KanBo uses a role-based access control (RBAC) model designed for modern enterprises.

Each user’s access and responsibility are clearly defined through system roles, workspace roles, and space roles, ensuring that everyone sees and manages exactly what they should — nothing more, nothing less.

KanBo roles not only secure information flow but also reflect how organizations operate:
executives oversee outcomes, managers control processes, and specialists perform work — all within their defined boundaries.

The KanBo role model is divided into three layers:

Resource Management Roles — control access to people, assets, and financial data.

Workspace & Space Roles — govern access and visibility for daily work.

System and Functional Roles — manage platform-level configuration and governance.
