Relations and Dependencies
Understanding Relations
Relations define how Cards are connected.
A relation links one KanBo Card to another, forming logical relationships that describe how work elements interact.
Relation Types
- Parent → Child — The parent represents a higher-level initiative; children are sub-tasks or components.
- Predecessor → Successor — Sequential work where one card must finish before another can begin.
- Linked / Related — Tasks that share information, dependencies, or context but can proceed independently.
- Blocked By / Blocks — Cards that are paused or prevented from continuing due to another pending task.
Each relation type adds context to KanBo’s visual structure, allowing users to map not just “what needs doing” but also “how things depend on each other.”
