KanBo Roadmap & Emerging Modules
KanBo MCP (Model Context Protocol)
The intelligence layer — connecting AI agents with live organizational context.
The KanBo MCP is the foundation for KanBo’s next generation of intelligent features.
It acts as a bridge between KanBo’s data model and external AI models, enabling safe, contextual automation without compromising data sovereignty.
Core Vision
- Contextual Awareness – Provide AI agents with structured KanBo data (Spaces, Cards, Users, Dependencies) under full governance.
- Action Hooks – AI can propose or execute predefined KanBo actions (e.g., create card, update status, comment).
- Explainability – Every AI action is traceable and auditable in KanBo’s activity stream.
- Security by Design – MCP never exposes raw data; it operates within policy-controlled API boundaries.
- Extensibility – Future integrations with enterprise AI frameworks (Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure OpenAI Service, on-prem LLMs).
Example Scenarios
- AI Agent monitors “At Risk” cards and suggests mitigation actions.
- Generate automated project status summaries using real KanBo data.
- Recommend workload redistribution when resource conflicts arise.
- Translate strategic goals into actionable card structures across Spaces.
Business Impact
- Turn data into proactive guidance.
- Enable decision-support and predictive awareness.
- Reduce noise by highlighting what truly matters.
- Maintain complete governance — AI operates inside your tenant.
