Workspaces – The Strategic Containers

Workspaces are the top-level organizational units in KanBo.
They represent your business domains or departments and contain multiple Spaces that hold actual projects or processes.

Key capabilities

  • Group related initiatives under one business area (e.g., Operations, HR, or Product Development).
  • Manage visibility and access for all Spaces inside the Workspace.
  • Monitor overall progress and performance across projects.
  • Create Folders to structure multiple Spaces hierarchically.

Example

You manage a large organization with several departments.
You create Workspaces such as:

  • Corporate Strategy – for long-term initiatives
  • Product Development – for new product design and launches
  • Finance – for budgeting, cost control, and forecasting

Each Workspace contains related Spaces (projects or operations) run by teams within that domain.
